Frozen water bladder?

Was pretty chilly Saturday morning, bladder froze quickly. I wasn’t using an insulated one. Any recommendations for a bladder system for winter? I realize it isn’t full proof, but don’t always want to carry bottles with my daac. Thank you

I have had good luck using one with an insulated hose in the winter while skiing. When it is real cold I try to always blow the water out of the hose as I have found that freezes quicker even with the insulated hose.

Did the bladder freeze, or the hose? Hoses freeze in the cold, you cannot avoid that in my experience. When it's cold I always blow into the tube to push the water back into the bladder. That solves the problem.

Unless you are setting your bladder on the frozen ground for a significant time or hanging it in a treestand the bladder shouldn't freeze.

I don’t mess with bladders in the winter. Stick with nalgenes…

a 3L bladder does hold a fifth (times about 4?). I guarantee it wouldn't freeze.
