Full curl daypack

It’s been years since I’ve bought a new pack but it’s finally time. I’ve been looking at the full curl combo with just the daypack. Does anyone use just the daypack alone removed from the frame? The straps don’t look great but just wondering if theY get you by.
I was also considering just buying the frame and attaching a different day pack. Do any other brands use the same clips?
Any thoughts (positive or not) on this setup, or suggestion for a completely different setup in the same price range.
