Was looking to get a G20 10MM for the backcountry. Was curious what grain ammo you all prefer for this backcountry side arm.

Someone with more actual experience will come along and say heavy hard cast like the Buffalo Bore 220gr. Also, there is a conventional wisdom that will say you need to swap you barrel to one with conventional rifling to fire lead reliably and safely in your Glock.

FWIW, I used buffalo bore (I think the 220s) and a KKM barrel in my g20. sadly, I don’t hunt brown bear country enough so I have my 10mm out on long term loan to a friend that does.

For my G20 I went with the Underwood Xtreme Penetrator 140gr / 1500 fps. I carried this combo last fall in Wyoming and Colorado. No upgrade to the barrel with mine.

I run 200gr hard cast but I’ve upgraded my barrel to a storm lake. The heavy stuff in a factory barrel won’t work for most. It didn’t in my g29. It would tumble.

Underwood 200grain hard cast

this ^ is what I use.

Ive got about 750rds of this ammo through my stock G20 with no malfunctions, no problems (I clean mine after every 300rds or so when shooting the hardcast)...and none of the tumbling reported from some of the heavier bullets.

200 Gr Hard Cast HSM Bear Loads in my G29, factory barrel. Probably will load the Swift A-Frames for this fall.

How many rounds of hard cast ammo are y'all putting through the barrel to feel confident the gun/barrel like the combo? I've still wearing in my G20, haven't had it that long or much time to shoot.
