I used to poke around several EDC forums cause I liked to see what everyone was carrying and some of those guys take sweet pictures. Helped me find cool new stuff too. I figured just for fun, why not start a thread for pictures of your gear layouts. I like to lay it all out and take a picture a week or more before a hunt to look at it often, it helps me visualize and think about what I need to add and remove. Hopefully I'm not the only gear freak that's into this. It could be gear for specific hunts, all of your gear, whatever. This picture is what I took for my recent bear hunt.

I'm all for a good "looky here, i bought something rad" thread but in a forum dedicated to gear porn we are going to atleast need a list of what you got, and reasons why.

I agree 100% pictures are awesome but should accompany a list of the items. That would help some of the newer folks out get a better idea and maybe trigger some of their own thoughts on what they need. Im stressed for time right now and leaving for the Virgin Islands very soon but when I get back I will definitely add to this. Great idea.

So did you shoot him with the pistol or the spray?
Don't see the rifle any where.

I'm thinking this forum is 99.9% gear junkies and .1% soon to become junkies

I lay my stuff out 10 times a year. I pack my pack once a week. My wife says "you're gonna wear it out before you get there".
I have pulled stitching loose on my frame belt seeing how much weight I could get in it
lol

I may soot some stills and post here. I was just in my shop and eliminated 4 items I thought for sure I needed. Just saved almost 16 ozs.
Trying to make weight room for more food.

I pack mine the day before or the day of a hunt, usually last minute. It's been working so far. No time to obsess over it, but I do think and anticipate the next hunt as soon as the last one ends, luckily the time in between can usually be measured in weeks, not months.

I completely agree with Nick M. My last trip was just a weekend, but I packed a week in advance. Then I packed more just-in-case crap in the last 2 days.

The good news is; I finally showed the GIF that she's wrong about almost 6 lbs of gear. I'm cleaning my basement and selling a bunch of great gear (but not used in years-despite being packed and carried).

When I noticed I still had a WM bag with the tags on I knew it was time.....

By the way, those EDC forums/blogs and an awesome site called Rokslide can be a double-edged sword.

I've joked for years that I'll make up business cards that say "Have backpacking stove(s), will travel."

Gear candy
This is my 5 day elk hunt gear with an AMR, and that gets trimmed down for my 2 day elk hunt in Utah using the Tahr

Love to list all the gear, but way to much candy on the table so let your imagination run wild..
Stove, tipi, bag, jet boil, pad, food, bear spray, kill kit, emerge kit, camp kit etc...

My bow and my clothes are separate pictures that I never got around to taking haha that trip I left the handgun and packed the spray since one buddy had a rifle and they both had handguns.

I am fortunate that Mrs406 has an appreciation for gear. I introduced her to rafting and eventually she got her own oar rig. After about the first couple weeks of running her own gear she said "I never understood why you guys are so particular about your stuff, but now I totally get it"

So when she gets home from work and the living room looks like Everest Base camp she doesn't bat an eye. She's just like us... If she gets a new piece of gear it's going to be sitting on the dining table or somewhere in the living room for at least a week so she can just look at it and randomly mess with it, and of course muse on all little things that could be tweaked to make it better.

Hi I'm Tim and also a gear junky! I always get my gear laid out about a week in advance, take a pic and it actually helps me get rid of the things I actually won't need or likely use.. Rokslide is definitely an enabler to my addiction. Just gotta put it down sometime! Ha!
