I have been lurking around on this site for awhile, and have made a few posts, but figured I would introduce myself.

My name is Ethan Starck and grew up in a ranching/farming family near the small town of Lusk, Wyoming. I started hunting big game at age 12 and for the past decade have hunted all over Wyoming and few other sates. Seven years ago I bought my first bow and that has been a true passion of mine since then, but I love to take my rifle out and hunt with that just as much.

As a way to introduce myself here is a summary of my hunting season for this past year.

Was only able to make one scouting trip to Colorado. All I found out was where not to hunt.

The first hunt of the year was in Nevada for mule deer. Went with my brother Justin who took a nice four point buck. I didn't pack a buck out on this trip, but had a great time exploring new country.

By the time I got back to Wyoming archery antelope was open so I spent a few days sitting in a blind waiting for one to get thirsty. This was one of the worst years I have seen for antelope hunting. I thought the drought we have been in would be good for antelope hunting, but it didn't seem to be that way.

Colorado mule deer was next and I got into the high country a couple days before the opener to make sure there were bucks where I thought there should be. There were and I was able to take one opening morning.

When September came around I spent a lot of time going from home to the Big Horns to hunt elk. During one of the periods when I was at home I was able to do a little management hunting on my parents ranch for mule deer and connected on a buck and a doe.

After filling my Wyoming mule deer tags I spent a couple weekend trips in the Big Horns elk hunting. Toward the end of Septemper the elk were bugling like crazy. This allowed me to sneak in on them multiple times, and eventually put an arrow through a decent five point.

Fires were a big problem this past summer and were burning nearby, but luckily didn't ruin any of my hunting.

I spent October most of November working for an outfitter so the next hunting I did for myself was in late November for Whitetails near my home with a rifle. The areas I hunt don't hold a lot of whitetails, and I only saw a couple bucks while hunting. The season ended without me firing my rifle.

The final hunt of my season, or maybe it would be the first of my 2013 season, was a trip to Arizona to hunt Coues'. This was the first time I have ever done this hunt and I believe that hese have got to be some of the hardest animals to take with a bow. I was glad to have my brother along with me as we tried to learn how to hunt those little deer together.
