How big of a difference is the gen 3 vs gen 4. This will be my first hand gun purchase and will be used (hopefully not) on an AK drop camp hunt. I’m primarily an archery hunter and this will be for bear defense-in other words not a hobby of mine where I will be shooting for recreation other than to practice with it.
Thank you for the help.

Here's a pretty cool article.
To me the only deal breakers are if you have a smaller hand and need the interchangeable backstraps.
Or lefty and need to swap the mag release over.
That being said I don't see gen 3s going for any screaming deals.
So id just pay the little extra and get the 4

Gen 4 has a more aggressive texture on the grip frame, modular back strap system, comes with 3 mags instead of 2, bigger mag release, and a different recoil spring. All my Glocks are Gen 4. I like the grip texture, mag release and the extra mag which makes the price difference kind of negligible to me.

I prefer the grip texture of the gen4. I have 2 gen4 and 1 gen3 g20. All the other features are a wash for me but I like the texture of the gen4.
