elk season opens the 28th here... i started hiking in last week.... going real deep for 2021!

The biggest one I ever killed was about 1/4 mile from a road. I miss elk hunting, I need to plan a trip.

Some people like camping at the car, and hunting near the road. Some people enjoy backpacking and hunting animals in the locations they hike out to. Luckily there’s animals for both groups.

I don’t think doing it one way or the other ups your odds, or makes you smarter than the other guy. Just different strokes for different folks.


Similarly I enjoy hiking out in the woods, not on the sidewalks around my neighborhood for exercise. Both burn calories, but I personally enjoy the hikes in the woods more.

Some guys don’t even hike all the way out to those honey holes 400 yards from the road. They just keep driving back and forth till you bump a bull out to the road for them
