I’ve seen a few Muskox wall pedestals that looks INCREDIBLE. When I get to do that hunt that’s definitely the route I’ll go.

Side note. My buddy got one of his billies back that we got on Kodiak a few years back...I talked him in with hand signals to 46 yards. Good times!

That is GORGEOUS! Kodiak is my all time favorite place in hunting 20+ states, 6 provinces, and 4 countries!

Doing something similar with my goat, but on a pedestal instead of a rock.

Funny. My musk Ox hunt cost me the same amount as what I saved by not doing a full body on my mountain goat. And I’m also very happy with my not full body mount of said Musk Ox...

Amazingly enough the are exactly what *** I *** wanted and I have no regrets. Not everyone doesn’t get a full body mount done because they can’t afford it.

When I get my brown bear I will probably do a rug...

Definitely one of those things that is to each their own... on another note, whats the running rate on a Musk Ox hunt? The difference in a shoulder mount for my goat to lifesize was about $4K canadian... seems low for a Musk Ox

Porthunter, I drew a fall Nunivak hunt in Alaska and was able to hire a transporter for $3500 and get dropped off and DIY. Almost as good as my $10,500 Stone sheep 😉

Yes it is definitely to each their own and that was my exact point. For one to say the only way to do a goat mount is life size or for that matter any other is the epitome of arrogance and I just don’t understand the thought process behind it. Lots of choices out there and none of them are wrong.

Nanny I took on Kodiak last year. Turned out pretty darn well.

Not sure if this is a repeat, still figuring out using the forum, but where did your buddy get his goat done at? Looks awesome.

Exactly. I've been lucky to take a bunch of goats and several musk ox, but I have no desire for a full body mount of either. I do have a full body mountain lion though, because in my opinion, they just look better than the other options.

Full body mounts are awesome, but with the govt I move too often to tote full body mounts around. Wall pedestals are my go to, look lifelike a s reasonable moving ability. Dad has a life size bear, after moving that thing I don’t see a full body mount in my future.

I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to do with my goat. @AK Troutbum idea of a rug has me very intrigued, especially with how much I like the euro and the fact that I could go on an entirely different hunt for the cost of a full-body. 4D14BD6E-A772-4B7B-A5A5-86262B753632.jpeg

I can appreciate a great mount of any type, but I like Troutbums style.
Not a goat, but when my wife and I each shot a bull Tahr in NZ we had them flat skinned and tanned, and euro’d the skulls. Turned out awesome and I hope to add a goat to the collection.

Plan to build a display for the euros and have one skin on my office floor and the other in the baby room.

My truly wonderful wife has always supported my passion for the adventures of hunting...thankfully.

That said, for many years she really didn't want any heads on the walls of the house. Over time, a few bear rugs, caribou and moose racks, she agreed when my son and I got a September goat together in the Kenai Mountains. A few years later my daughter and I took a late October goat on Kodiak, which I decided to rug because the hide was beautiful.

I really like the pedestal mounts several of you guys have shared, but that would have been a bridge too far for her, and she is the best part of my life!

He’s not quite finished, but I think it’s going to turn out great. Should be all dried and ready to go in the next month. Will post up finished photos then. Hoping I have another taxi bill after Oct 2.
