Good luck to all the folks out in Montana for the final week of elk season! That right, the season opened on August 15 and you can still harvest a cow elk in 43 districts. I’m sure it has been a long grueling 6 month hunting season for you but somebody has to kill those vermin. What I can’t understand is why FWP would close the hunting season at all! There are way too many elk in this state. Actually, I take that back, they need to have a closure and forbid everyone from doing anything outdoors from March 15 to May, maybe even June. As we all know elk are at their absolute weakest during that time. Why the state allows anyone to hike around and tie old pieces of bone to their backpack is absolutely appalling. Those wildlife harassers are the worst!
