How well does a gopro work for filming hunts? Mostly 20-40 yrds, and what model would you recomend or other brand?

It has its place but it’s tough to make it a do-all because of the wide angle. Stuff that looks not far off, like the 20-40 yards you mention, becomes pretty small in the frame. It has a narrow field setting, but it’s still an issue. Stuff has to be right up in your immediate vicinity if you want it to be noticed in the shot.

If you are looking for a camera that can take any weather condition and take a beating then the best choice is the Olympus TG5. Bigger sensor then the GoPro as well
Here are the key features:

TruePic VIII Image Processor
Olympus 4x Optical Zoom f/2 Lens
25-100mm (35mm Equivalent)
3.0" 460k-Dot LCD Monitor
Water, Crush, Shock, Freeze & Dustproof
4K Video Recording and Full HD at 120p
Built-In Wi-Fi, GPS, Field Sensor System
ISO 12800 and Up to 20 fps Shooting
Pro Capture Mode & Variable Macro System

I am here until 6:00 today and tomorrow

Normally $449.99. There is no Olympus rebate now but we can do it for you for $399.99
Look forward to hearing from you

Going to try one out in the field this weekend if the weather holds up. Seems like a good close up camera, but not worth shooting anything outside of 20 feet as mentioned above.

I use GoPros or my phone for most of my hunts. Let me tell you the GoPro's suck for the most part. They are very temperamental in the cold and will freeze up and not turn on. That being said, they are simple to operate and lightweight enough to carry around. Going to try and find something different for this year.

I filmed this hunt with my GoPro.
