Doesn't matter really, hunted same unit for 15 years. Every year is different, good luck this year.

I've got 17 deer, 12 elk. Didn't want to burn deer points as not thinking Governor out there is gonna allow non-resident hunting this year, never know, but not trusting it anyhow. If I'm wrong, burn em next year.

Im putting in for points as well. I will have a whopping 1 point for Elk, and deer lol. Would it be worth getting pronghorn points in CO? I have already started getting points in WY for Pronghorn

I hope this covid-19 is a not so fond memory by this fall!

So far the governor has been encouraging outdoor recreation as long as you can maintain the recommended 6 ft social distancing.

And I'm sure they cpw will accommodate hunters somehow if you aren't able to hunt this fall. But probably a safer bet to just get points.

I wonder if this will increase draw odds in some places? I heard new mexico had a record year for applicants.

I decided I'd try to burn my elk points this year. Not certain if I'll be making the trip or not, but figured I could turn the tag back. Going to be a weird year for it. Have a trip planned and a cabin booked, but things can change. Have Otc as a backup.

I hope it's a forgone conclusion by fall but still can't find toilet paper or paper towels.

Takes more than 5 points for GMU's that have pronghorns in CO unless you're planning on going archery. 3 points will get you into those.

Scoutman - did you consider applying for a unit that typically requires more than 12 elk points? With many people thinking like you (don't want to burn points), maybe this is a year to get a deal on a higher point unit?

No, I hunt in a OTC unit that has big bulls in it, see them every year, so not a priority for me at this time.

The short answer is probably not, but the long answer is "why not!". You'll likely draw many more tags in Wyoming than in Colorado, but for $8 you might as well keep your options open if you are applying for deer and elk anyway
