What effect does human scent on the ground have on elk? We all know that if they wind us standing there it's game over.
But what if they walk over our boot tracks? At what point do they no longer care or are not bothered by it?

Dry ground, 30 minutes tops! Wet/rainy weather ground well over an hour for us in many situations!

I try not to walk where I feel an elk will come to my calling!

Thanks, Paul. I was referencing more of a situation where you are following the herd in the morning, would they be back in the same area that evening and your scent not disturb them . From your answer it seems like that wouldn't bother them at all.

Exactly, the human scent doesn't hang around that long at all. I've put trail cams up on OTC units & had elk on camera 30 minutes after setting it there. I've noticed the same thing in hunting situations as well. Good Luck!

p.s. kill them in their bedding area, it's my # 1 place!
