One option I am working on is a man with a couple horses on stand-by. Another option is a little more creative but untested as far as I know, working on it. If nothing pans out I am certainly willing to forego my favorite basin and kill a small cow within a mile or two of the truck. Conditions and timing will dictate as I am not a complete greenhorn. I just haven’t killed my own on a solo trip and am letting my mind wander through the possibilities.

It's not quick solo. I shot a mature bull solo last year 1.5 miles in. Shot him just after legal shooting light. Brought last load of meat out in the dark.

I went and got the hide the next am. 4 trips for the meat, 1 for hide and skull.

I've been thinking it would be great to have a tanned elk hide. But I didn't know it would be 75ish pounds. Going to have to be close to the car!
