I am chasing some loads for a 264 win mag. and ran out of Retumbo, which showed some promise. So I have a couple pounds of H1000 and was looking at that to use. Anyone have any good experience with it? I saw some online reviews, but most books don't even include it. Looking at the 140-143 range for bullets. I have also had some good luck with 8133.

Thoughts? It is a 26 inch barrel.

I tried it when I had a .264. It works fine. You leave some velocity on the table vs Retumbo but ES was pretty decent. Case fill leaves a bit to be desired but that’s kinda the .264 wm in general.

With as hard ( should say impossible) as Retumbo has gotten to find I think I would just try it and 8133 and see which comes out on top. H1000 certainly isn’t a bad choice with the current Retumbo situation.

Thanks, loaded some up and got really accurate load at 59 gr with 140 sgk, but only 2900 fps. My 270 does more... Will spend more time with 8133

I wish I had all my notes from my .264 but I don’t. Still have a few on my phone but seem to have deleted some.

RL23 might be worth trying also. I still have the notes from it and it looks like I got up to 3050 with a 147 with it. I can’t find what It did with H-1000 with the 147 to give a direct comparison unfortunately.

it'll be a little slower than retumbo but probably very consistent.id imaging 3100ish with 140s will be pretty easy

My 264win didn't like h1000. It likes 4831SC. Group sizes were double what 4831SC is. 3/4moa to easily 1.5 moa at 500+

Thanks for all the replies. I tried 8133 and was ok, maybe I will try playing with that some more. May also keep with the h1000 and see if I can get some more speed out of it. Was a clover leaf with 59 grains, but would like to get more speed if possible.

not sure what your seating depth is, but that seems like an awfully light charge.. I'm at 74 gr with R33.
