I have had a pair of trappers for 4 years and they definitely have some level of insulation value. With light to midweight merino socks my feet have been fine into the low 20s when treestand hunting for a few hours. I even where these boots in early archery and turkey season when hunting in the steeper Pa mountains and have never found them to be too hot. I probably wouldn't wear them to walk on an easy trail in the summer, but I have found them to regulate temps pretty well. I have hunted in several inches of snow in close to 0 deg temps and my feet haven't gotten cold like they would in non insulated boots.
