Head coming loose from tripod

I have a Sirui VA-5 head and Slik 634 tripod and I can't get the head to stay tight to the tripod no matter how much I mess with the bolt length on the tripod. Do any of you put loctite or something similar to keep this from happening? For some reason I am a bit nervous to make that connection a bit more permanent.

Yes, and every tripod I have had has a set screw from the tripod to the underside of the head.
