Hello Everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate thread, but I figured it was a good place to start. I searched but didn't find an answer to this specific question. I recently purchased a Kifaru Crater from a member on here, and I'm going to be ordering the frame as soon as I can get to Kifaru to try on the different options. I live in Colorado and have been hunting elk and mule deer for the last few seasons. I know that I am going to be hauling the meat in the main bag, but I wanted to get a consensus to how everyone is carrying out the head. I have seen pictures of people using a guide lid, grab-it, compression straps, etc. Before I buy the frame I wanted to get an idea of what people were doing and maybe add to my frame order.

I know that the bag has compression straps running down the back maybe that will be sufficient. Anyway, what is everyone's go to method for carrying out the antlers/skull of elk/mule deer, etc?

Thanks for all the advice!

This is how we usually do it. This years bulls. One head for euro mount, big bull skull capped for shoulder mount. We both have mountain warrior packs

All you need is a guide lid. I have the same pack and carried out a bull and buck this year. It holds it into place really well.

You will use the compression straps to tighten down the main load in your pack so it doesnt slip around.

I pack the same way as the pics above Set the skull or skull cap on top of the pack and pull the guide lid over the top I also use compression straps around the antlers to stabilize them I would also urge you to bring bright flagging material plus your orange vest to wrap on the antlers during rifle season so you don't get shot

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think the guide lid will be a nice addition. That's the route I will most likely go. I appreciate all the advice
