I'd loan you a scope if you were in the area. I bet a solid scope will do that rifle well. Your group improved without it.... that tells a bunch.
Thanks. I was encouraged by the improvement too. It is what made me decide to try a scope.

Well…I tried with a scope. The best I got was an 8 inch group at 100 yards. We will just put it on the wall. Thanks for all your help.

Just remember, barrels are consumables. I know you can buy a cheap new rifle for about the same cost, but if you like the stock and the action and if it has any sentimental value to you at all you can easily get it rebarreled. Those magnums eat barrels pretty quickly.
