Help! Zeiss Conquest 10x42 Broken Tripod Cap

Hey guys, I was trying to remove the front tripod mount cap on my Zeiss Conquest 10x42s and the cap broke off with the screw piece still inside. Has anyone re-tapped the hole for a tripod mount on a pair of these binos before? Thanks for the help!

I just removed mine the other day. Mine are from 2014 and you have to drill the center of the cap and then remove the cap with a small needle nose or similar. I wonder if you could do the same. There's a thread about it half way down the 2nd page of the optics forum.
