If you want a drop, look at gcode rti optimal drop adapter. It isn't a full drop down holster where you will need a thigh strap to hold holster to leg while drawing, just drops the holster a few inches, enough to clear you hip belt of pack (it clears mine and am running a SG xcurve). Then, you get a RTI hanger holster, can take it on and off at camp without taking belt off. It is what I use and works really well. If you are determined to attach to hip belt of pack, could use one of the molle rti disks and attach to the two straps and then hang holster off it. Can post a picture if you like.

Don't have to worry about Griz around where I hunt. I carry a 2" S&W 340PD .357 in an old soft padded nylon holster(Uncle Mikes I think) with a nylon web retention strap on it. As said before on my left side as it gets in the way on the right. When I take the pack off and feel the need, the pistol goes in my pocket. So short answer, I don't like those hard plastic holsters. I want one with a strap across the top either leather or my favorite the soft padded nylon (quieter).
I also have a 340pd with a pocket holster. What a great gun for hiking!

I also use the GCode RTI system on my Mystery Ranch Pintler and Metcalf. For me it works great. Very flexible system.

After working with diffrent holster set-ups on my leg, hip and pack, I chose to go with a set up that will allways be on my person while in camp or taking a poo. Diamond D Chest Rig with a 629.

The Exo guys had the guy from Ivory Holsters on the podcast a while back, his product looks top notch. The only hesitation in going with this style is when you set your pack down, you no longer possess your handgun on your body. At a kill site, around camp, or stalking I prefer to have my handgun attached to my body. That said, this product looks well made.

I have the ivory holster, it works great.

lots of threads on this if you search. I'm going away from pack belt carry and switching to either chest carry (attached to bino harness) or a style that rides just bellow the pack belt so when I drop my pack I still have my firearm.
same exact for me, have been carrying my glock 20 on my waistbelt, and am going to buy a sig p365 and try a razco holster on my bino harness.... think it will be a better mousetrap for me

I do, i put an Ivory Holster on my pack this year, it worked well and wasn't too cumbersome.

I like a Bianchi UM92 with my Glocks, 19 or 29, on my back belt. It has a flap so good gun protection, nice in wet weather, a little slower than my milt sparks open top I normally carry I know bit fine for the woods. It has a spring loaded secure clips that works well on molle and comes off fast Or traditional belt loops Takes 2 seconds to take off my belt if I dump my pack with the clips. They also make a UM 84Rrevolver model.

I bought a Eleazar© Molle Holster from Dale Fricke holsters For my Glock 20. It rides easily on my Kifaru and SG hip belts. It also has really good retention in an enclosed bottom so I don’t have to worry about Sitting the pack down
