Hornady whitetail ammo in 6.5cm for elk

Hi guys just got a 6.5 cm for my kids. Grabbed some Hornady 129 gr interlock ammo and was wondering if anyone has used this on elk or bears. Have had great luck with interlocks in my 7mm

Not familiar with that particular load, but if it is designed for whitetails, I would think the bullet would be constructed too lightly for elk. If it is designed to properly expand in a 140 pound deer, it would not penetrate for a clean kill on a 800 pound elk. Check to see if an accubond, partition, or TTSX bullet can be found in loaded ammo.

No worries with the 129 IL. It's often compared to the 125 partition for performance.

I have only used it for whitetail deer. Not sure how they'd perform on heavier game

The IL is a good bullet. Keep the shots a reasonable distance and in the boiler room, you’ll be eating elk.

In my sons 7-08, this ammo has worked just fine, two elk- all shots were passthrough. Reasonable distances and angles, I think you will be fine.

This is why Hornady should have kept making the Interbond. But I think others are right, within reason, it should work just about as well.
