How are New Mexico covid restrictions going to impact hunting?

I have a late archery LO tag in northern NM bordering Southern CO (which I have previously hunted). Has there been any word on the expectations? I check gohunts covid updates daily hoping for news. I will definitely be 'isolating' by hunting, but is NM considering that isolation?

Also, anyone with experience in 53 willing to PM me and let me know if my e-scouting is on the right track or not? Not looking for someone's honey holes, but maybe some advice that could potentially shorten my learning curve in a new unit.

just go hunt! this governor is just another power hungry liberal who knows what's best for us. her "rule" is unconstitutional, and her rules are unenforceable. I didn't see her say a damn thing about violent looters destroying businesses in big groups not wearing a mask.

Wouldn't slow me down at all. This spring when the world was crashing, I went to a neighboring state, killed a nice bear and had the place to my self.

Take precautions, but as stated above, these politicians are getting out of hand. We are in the twilight zone right now.

I live in SW colorado and there’s folks here from everywhere and lots of NM residents traveling back and forth everyday. The rules are a joke and everyone knows it.

I realize most folks don't give a crap, but the NM Gov is going to do a press conference tomorrow and she is going to impose new restrictions including a 14 day quarantine ban when entering the state and test results do not matter. Spiking out in the Gila Wilderness does not meet their definition of quarantine. And, yes, I know...most sheriffs and local authorities couldn't give a crap...just an FYI.

The "madness" is people not wearing masks and social distancing. That is why we are in another lockdown to begin with. The 14 day quarantine for people travelling to a NM destination hasn't changed any. She was exempting travellers from states below an infectation rate threshold. But now there are no states below that threshold so all travellers to NM must quarantine. Outfitters are considered essential services but all too often they ignore the mask and social distancing mandates - quarantines. I have seen it firsthand myself. Yes the non resident hunting has been impacted. There were fewer out of state hunters in the Gila during Sept and Oct. No body likes it but that is just the way it is. You reap what you sow!

That does not hold true anymore because there are no states below what was the required threshold. Anyone who wishes to come and stay in NM must quarantine for 14 days.

I didn't address the negative covid test exemption...that was rescinded about as soon as it was proclaimed I want say around the 1st of Oct. DHS removed the negative covid test exemption because a person could be exposed while travelling and then infect others at their destination.

You’re out of touch. If there are fewer NR’s in the Gila, it’s because it is designed that way. I guarantee you no one stayed home if they drew a Gila tag because of our liberal governor says they have to quarantine. It is unenforceable. The essential worker list is a joke. You have a poor barber staying home getting poorer by the day, and hoards of people in Walmart daily. And let’s talk about masks for a minute. Everywhere I go, 95% of the people have masks on, yet cases are going up. If the masks worked, we’d see a decline in cases. Medical professionals that I have talked to say masks are absolutely ineffective. I’m not talking bureaucrats who pretend to be doctors here either Mr Fauci. Perhaps you should join Lujan or Biden’s administrations? I know the stay at home order is perfect for you, because you’ve already made your living and you are retired. The travel quarantine has been enforced and will continue to be enforced. Anyone who rents out a room is required to book that room for 14 days (or the duration of their stay, whichever is shorter) to a non-resident. If their guests violate the quarantine, they are required to report it. The Governor has stated that air-bnbs are difficult to enforce because the rooms are booked online. Anyone who would value a Gila tag over the possibility of bringing death home to their family is insane!

Let's stick to the subject of elk hunting. During my hunt I did see some non-res hunters in tents or RVs at primitive camps. As far as I know, no one bothered them. But then they were being smart about it and didn't go into town. The way things are now, the non-res hunters should be thinking about being able to go back to their home states. If you are a NM resident and hunt in Colorado and then come back to NM you need to quarantine for 14 days. If you are caught in violation, you better have a pile of cash and don't plan on going home for a couple of weeks. Game wardens are LE and if you are violating any state law you could be detained. F&G sends me emails about roadblocks, but over the years I have yet to see one.

You’ve bought into the left wing media hype. Now here’s the kicker. And I am a realist. It will take “herd immunity” to get past the covid. Like it or not, most people ARE going to contract the virus at some point. Those who will die, will die. I certainly wouldn’t trust the Fauci’s of the world making my decisions. Just look at what Cuomo accomplished in NY.

Here’s what the bigger issue is Gila. And I don’t give a damn whether you or anyone else agrees. The Covid has “masked” or “covered” a socialist agenda.

It’s all about freedom. Do you value that freedom that many have fought and died for? So the 2 questions we should be asking are this;

Are you willing to fight for your/our freedom? And are you willing to die for your /our freedom? Anyone who answers no to 1 or both questions should put there mask on and be silenced. Then get the hell out of the way so those who are willing can continue to fight the good fight.....
