For those who shoot this rifle in this caliber, what have you found to be the best bullet? I’m looking for a round to take into the elk woods this fall.

Might find some info on Randy Newbergs Hunt Talk site. Some Howa Alpine fans there and 24hour campfire as well.

Turns out the best mix from my components is a CCI primer and 45gr of Varget for the 165gr Nosler Partition. I had a handful of different cases, but now that I’ve got the load down I’ll load 3-5 of each case and see where that leaves me.

Even with the different pressures those different cases were sure to produce, my best three were just over an inch at 100 yards. I’m new to this game so it’s been fun learning.

I just received mine in 6.5Jesus. Might float the barrel a little more but I’ll shoot it first before I fiddle with it.

I use 45.5gr of Varget with every 165/168 bullet I shoot for my 308s. Very accurate load. I keep the same seating depths between rifles too.
