With the need to put AL inserts everywhere, the need for a bow to be square/plum and the fact the carbon bows are not much lighter then the AL bows, I am having a hard time understanding the benefits? Seems like more of a gamble that you will get one that shoots well vs the AL riser bow.

This is interesting. Now that my Vertix review is done, I put together my RX-3 last night.......which has been sitting a box in the basement since April. Guess I'll have to take a look tomorrow........

Just a FWIW on the hoyts. I picked up my RX3 Turbo this weekend, had it ordered in a couple weeks ago. The sight issue seems to be fixed, however.... I had a custom black gold pro that I put on it, and the screws that mount the sight to the bow that came with the sight were not quite long enough now with the fix on the bow. The bow shop had every length but 3/4" on hand, but luckily for me there was a hardware store 2 minutes away from the bow shop and they had 3/4" long screws that were perfect for the sight. A little irritating, but it is what it is. Just a heads up for anyone that may be in similar shoes as I am, seeing as I am 4 hours from the pro shop.

As for the set up and how it shoots..... It is pretty sweet, throwing lasers downrange with it.

With spring bear approaching I've been getting back out to the range. My son has been joining me which has been fun.

A few weeks back I shot a 3D course with a couple of buddies to knock the rust off. We lost a few arrows and had a great time.

Here's my buddy with a "lucky" shot.

I also just had Mike at May's Archery make me up two dozen new arrows.

I've been practicing at some longer distances to improve my effective range. This group was at 60 yards. I was a little disappointed with that last shot. Oh well, that's why I need the practice.

I ended the day with another 80-yard target. Not bad for a guy who knows little about shooting bows.
