For my recurve, since I am making the switch to wood shafts, I ordered a test pack of shafts from Surewood. They send 4 shafts each of 3 spine ranges. I knew what head weight I wanted to shoot but bought a few field points in that weight(160 gr). I already had glue on field points in 125 and 145. With that test pack of shafts I was able to 2 different setups for my recurve and the lightest of the 3 spines gave me an arrow setup that shoots perfect out of my ILF longbow that is less draw weight. For less than the avg cost of a 3 pack of broadheads, I got 3 different arrow setups for 2 bows. Not sure I can make it more economically efficient than that. But I am always open to learning something new.
