Hunting Bullet Recommendation for 270 Win

I’ve found a MOA or slightly under MOA load using 130 Nosler Ballistic Tips and 58.3 grains of 4831 SC. I’ve ran out of 4831 SC and want to use 2 lbs of H4350 I have so I will be doing a new load work up.

Since I’m starting from scratch I would like to try a different hunting bullet with H4350. The gun is a do it all for me for Elk and Mule Deer. I’ve successfully harvested elk and deer from 100 yards to 511 yards with this rifle, with factory ammo(Winchester 150 power points, Hornady 130 interlocks, I haven’t tried the Nosler BT on anything yet). 95% of shots are over 300 yards. I’ve noticed my 270 seems to shoot 150 grain bullets better as a general rule of them

Some 150 grain .277 bullets I’ve considered are:

Hornady interlock
Nosler portion (not sure about long range accuracy)
Sierra game changer
Berger VLD (seem some reviews about not opening and some about fragmenting?)

I have other calibers for long range stuff, but I went with 150 partitions for a recent trip to Africa. I was able to get three shot groups around .75" at 100 yards with them, and trust the Partition to hold together well on tough animals. I shot a kudu with it at 225 yards, and he fell in about 7 steps.

I have had excellent results using hornady eldx in my 6.5 with 4350. Below is a 5 shot group at 100 yards

Was the ELD-x picky when it came to searing depth and distance jumping to the lands?

In my gun no but not all guns are the same I always seat .20 of the lans and the adjust from there, movement in .05 did not change my groups. It has been great to get match grade 1 hole groups out of a hunting projectile that will perform at longer ranges.

If you like the Ballistic Tips, load up some AccuBonds for hunting. Fly like BTs and hold together like Partitions. Great bullets.

Theoretically I could use my 130 BT 58.3 grains of 4831SC recipe with 130 AB correct?

Yes it should work. I have been able to use them interchangeably as long as the BC is identical.

For what you are doing the 140 or 150gr Accubond would be my choices.

FWIW the 140gr Accubond and Ballistic Tip have different BC's. The Accubond is higher.

I like to load the 130gr Hornady interlock to right at 3000fps, 24" barrel. 54 grains of H4350. Kills Elk just fine. But I don't shoot past 300 yards.

I like those interlocks, but the lead tip makes me wonder if accuracy will suffer if the tip gets a little messed up
