Hunted a pit blind we dug one time near a guzzler in the Red Desert. Had some tallish sage so we dug about a 3 ft deep hole and sat in it. Had a buck come in behind me while I was sitting on the edge of the hole for a better view. No shot but was surprised to see him looking at me from 20 yds away.
We filled in the hole after hunting. Not sure on legalities now of digging pit blinds but they work in the right circumstances.
