I think my boots on my waders have stretched out...

I have a pair of insulated Cabelas waders that I love but I think the rubber boots seem to have stretched out. I used them Saturday morning in some very sticky thick mud that really took the boots off my feet every couple of steps. Has anyone ever had this happen before? I like the waders and would like to get another couple of years out of them before getting ones that fit more snuggly. Is there any solution for this? So far I have seen people suggest possibly wearing shoes or an insole inside the boot and thicker socks. Has anyone tried something like zip ties around the ankle?

I've had leather boots stretch but never rubber. I would wear heavier socks, I would buy new boots before putting zip ties around my ankles. I like the idea of being able to get out of my waders if I ever fall in water.

I am usually hunting in the marsh where the water level rarely gets up to my hips.
