Thanks y'all. Here are some pictures of our first trip to the high country in mid September. It was very clear the 1st day or so and then smoke began to move in. We had a great time regardless.IMG_20200912_081927898_HDR.jpgIMG_20200912_094605160.jpgIMG_20200912_175721163_HDR.jpgIMG_20200913_071638878.jpg

Nice pics. Looks like a timbered area. I'm sure they were hard to find in that country. Any luck finding sheep? Had they dropped in elevation?

We were finally able to find a group of 15-20 sheep on the last day. This and a half-curl were the only ramsIMG_20201031_180013561.jpg in the bunch. There were less than 2 hours left on the last day of the season when I finally got my shot at this one. What a hunt!

Beautiful scenery and a wonderful ram. I've felt sheep hunting was the most strenuous hunting there is but the view is worth it. Great job!

Congrats! There is a real possibility those were the only sheep within the unit. There is a fairly large amount of sheep habitat in there where they just aren’t present.

I wasn’t sure where you were going with your post-hunt story and photos but I was hopeful for this ending. Congrats on the ram!

Thanks, it was the toughest hunt I've ever been on. I hiked over 10 miles and 3-4 thousand feet of elevation on the last day alone. And without my brother and uncle helping me locate them I believe I'd have come home empty handed. To top it off, my scope fogged up on day one, but my Uncle graciously let me use his rifle for the rest of the hunt. It made me nervous using an unfamiliar rifle but thankfully the shot was under 200 yards.

That is a grind. Awesome job staying with it. I know a lot of guys that give in on tough hunts.

Now the question is, would you hunt sheep again?

Thanks guys. Yes, I'd do it again gladly, although I wouldn't mind having a few years break for a hunt so demanding. :)
