So, since Im sure my Manitoba hunt will be a bust this spring, still looking to try and get a color phase bear...all my research is pointing to Idaho as my best bet in the states.

That being said...who has had success and what outfitter? Hounds or bait? which region of the state?

I once heard that for places which receive less than 20 inches of rain a year there is a correlation with significantly increased amounts of color phase bears. That being said, id look at eastern Oregon or Idaho but in the southern parts of their mountain range. Otherwise, Idaho gets a ton of rain the farther north you go.

I’d go spot and stalk over the rut or use hounds. Just a personal preference though.

I don't know about the rain and stuff but Northern Idaho has significantly more bears and color phases than Southern Idaho.
