Thinking of picking up the explorer + to take solo archery elk this year and replace my rino 650. Can I transfer all my waypoints? Is the mapping any better than what I have? I think I read it won’t take my onX chips.
I’ve never used the radio and it’s a brick but it’s been pretty useful and battery life is good.
Other thought was just pick up the mini for the main reason of communication with my wife and keep using the rino.

Battery life is good. I don't use the GPS features and still use my 64 because I like using onyx and importing my own maps. I would have loved the mini but it wasn't available yet when I got my explorer.

The screen on the explorer plus is small and the software is not very
intuitive. I have had explorer, explorer plus and the 66I. Uploading
maps had a steep learning curve when I loaded non Garmin maps. I dont
use onx but it will work with the 66i.

I am not familiar with the 650's satellite reception but if its similar to
the Explorer maybe just keep your present system and get a mini. Another
alternative is to sell the 650 and invest in the 66I. You will then have a tough
lighter weight system that provides you with communication and mapping using your
familiar Onx maps. The Mini is around 300 the 66I about 540. Using the proceeds
from the sale of you 650 to offset the price difference.

I’ll look into the 66i. Can I transfer all my waypoints from my rino to it? Is the screen size and software a big improvement over the explore +?
The satellite reception is good on the rino; a lot better than my buddy’s 530.

The screen isn’t larger on the 66i but has many more pixels so it’s easier to see.

the hiking guy gives a great synopsis of both and who needs which! Gpsmap 66i review and guide. He also has one on the explorer but the 66i review compares the two.
