My dad, brother and I had a great time visiting Ireland. We got to check out our family history and meet up with cousins living on the island. Of course we had to find out how the hunting was! We took some great sheep species and some big Irish ibex. Absolute blast! Definitely will be returning for sitka deer, fallow and red stag. Highly recommend!

Looks awesome man. What are the cost like for hunting in Ireland? Is it similar to North America or is it a whole different thing going on?

It all depends on what you want to hunt. It is priced per animal but they were more than gracious. The more we shot the better prices got. The lodging and food was included and was unreal. Literally stayed in a castle one night it was definitely the way to go about touring Ireland. Great way to spend the off season!

Right on man, it looks like you guys had a kick ass trip! Were you just there this month? I went for a week back in April 2018, with three of my wife’s uncles and we had a blast, but we never even thought to hunt. Those first pictures you posted looked very similar to the countryside we saw in the North Western part of the Republic of Ireland, it reminded me a lot of Kodiak.

Bagot goats are a branch of goat from England primarily with black head/neck white body. The Irish ibex are a completely different goat all together and have been native to Ireland dating back to the 16th century and earlier with a variety of colors ranging from white, black, multi colored and blue. Apparently there are 3 different breeds of the ibex on the island. Woodland, stone and the 3rd slipped my mind already. Our guides were showing us the DNA chains and are currently in the works with SCI to get them recognized as their own species in the books. Pretty cool to learn about them.

I got a quote from Game Hunting Ireland. It was 7500 USD for 4 days 5 nights 1 red stag and 1 Ibex. Not sure if that is a good or bad price. If anyone has any other information I'd appreciate it as I am planning a trip to Ireland in two years and this would be a great addition if I can swing the price.
