I’ve been having way too much fun with my semi custom Tikka.

This has been an awesome year hunting with my semi custom Tikka T3X chambered in .22-250. It started out its life as a bone stock Superlight and has since had a few upgrades done to it.

McMillan Hunters Edge Carbon Stock, High Desert Bottom Metal, YoDave Trigger Spring, Mountain Tactical Magazine, and some bedding work. Up top is a Meopta MeoPro 4-14x44 with Talley lightweight low rings.

I’ve taken several animals with this rig since I got it all put together and I’ve been able to be confident with it with verification groups at 600 yards. Longest confirmed kills on a critter so far are the two rabbits in the pictures below. 437 yards and 492 yards for the one with the spine taken out. Hoping to get onto a varmint out past 600 here soon.

The kill list for this rifle includes 2 bobcats, 18 coyotes, about 300 rabbits, and about 1,000 squirrels. It’s been just a fantastic ranch rifle so far. I continue to be impressed with both the rifle and the Meoptas tracking and reliability so far.

It’s also really nice to carry stalking through the hills for critters weighing in under 9 lbs which includes the scope, full magazine, heavy bipod, and sling. Bare rifle and scope is 7 lbs 6 oz.

This type of hunting is great exercise and is the best practice you can get for hunting big game as well. Right about now is when I start carrying my pack on my back for my evening stalks through the hills.

We’re having too much fun out here to worry about all the crazy stuff going on out in the country. I suggest more of us do the same.

Looks good! My easiest shooting rifle is a SuperLite in 223. It’s taken a few badgers and plenty of ground squirrels.

How much difference does that trigger spring make?

I’m a little picky when it comes to triggers...

The T3X trigger is an absolutely fantastic and very reliable trigger. The problem is getting it adjusted down to a low enough trigger pull for me personally. They say you can get it down to around 2 lbs which is still to stiff for me. All my hunting rifles are all set to exactly 1.25 lbs and the YoDave trigger spring let’s me get there perfectly. You can take it even lower than that with this trigger spring if you want.

Installs in about 2 minutes and gives you a trigger that’s a nice as anything you can buy and is super reliable.

Stupid easy to shoot is how I’d describe my t3x 223 as well. It’s gotten a similar treatment as yours. Hitting moa steel at 500 yards with it is no big deal if conditions are right.

Is that an 8 twist?
