Hello,
I posted before last season but didn't make it due to family illness. My son has now left the east and took a job in Wyoming. Hes living my dream. I've continued to read many of the very knowledgeable post on here and filing the best stuff in my head. Thanks to all who share their knowledge ( rokslide, Elknut and many others). Plane ticket has been bought and I'll be hunting archery OTC elk sept.17-27 in northern Colorado. My son has been scouting some in the OTC areas. Also took a nice Gobbler this spring in Colorado. Thanks again and I can't wait to make some more memories with my son. Ron20220804_094136.jpg20220716_124146.jpg20220716_130723.jpg20220716_134157.jpg

Meant to post this photo earlier with the others. Thought it might be a good example to others that are new to western hunting. 20220716_142112.jpg

Made it back Tuesday from the hunt. It was was an awesome trip. Lots of fresh Tracks and Droppings. Lots of bugles. Had some in close. One big 6x6 at 30 yards but no shot. Came in silent. Camped around 10000' the whole trip. Only saw a couple other guys. Found a deadhead I guess from last year. It was an amazing trip and made a lot of memories with my son. Learned a lot about the area and elk hunting. Hope to get to go again next and try to put a tag on one of those OTC Bulls. In going to attach a photo of the deadhead. This was our 1st day of archery hunting. It was the last day of muzzleloader so I wore a orange hat. Good luck to all.

Nice, is it legal to keep it where you hunt.
