I don't know an outfitter but I know my buddy's brother has come in from out of state and done DIY hunts and gotten them. There are several special hunts and walk-in areas that you can draw. It just depends on whether that is what you are looking for.

Thanks for the replies. Thinking diy might be way to go

If you decide to go DIY and are going to rely on public ground, keep in mind that the spring walk in hunting opportunities will be way down compared to this fall. The spring WIHA doesn't get near the enrollment as fall and last year there wasn't much enrolled in the western part of the state. I think last spring they hit a record with something like 225,000 acres enrolled while the fall enrollment will typically be well over 1 million acres.

However, there is usually a decent concentration of WIHA properties in the north central part of the state during the spring, but you'll start running into Rio/Eastern hybrids up there if that is important to you.

To anyone who is interested, I have a place to hunt turkeys, the land owners want them gone. I am unsure of the breed of turkeys though, but there are a ton of them. Here is what I will need from you:

Your name
Your number
Number of folks in your party
The dates you want to come out
Type of weapon

PM me this information and I will get back with you.

Pipe Creek outfitters in Minneapolis is used by several of our customers, with good things always said. Joel Wimer (owner) of CW Ranch is a good guy as well. He is a rancher, that later on saw opportunity for a B&B and Guided Hunting. I would go DIY as a non-res, but that's me. Kansas has lots of WIHA as others has mentioned. RIO's dominate KS especially the western 2/3 (except for the very SW). You'll find Hybrid Rio/Eastern's in North Centeral, and mostly Eastern's in NE corner and running south along the border.

I would guess with that location at best hybrid, probably eastern.
I hunt just South of Salina and we get some that look both.

Picture like 27 in this group of pics, of three of us with 2 birds that both look different we had 3 toms come in and buddy in middle shot 2 of the 3. A bunch of the others are from that area. I would pull more specific examples but I am not that smart!

There are some pretty great public lands and if you know how to hunt turkeys and would like to go DIY, I will help you out as best as I can!
