New Kestrel - I killed some time wrapping it with micro cord. Nothing fancy but it turned out okay and does seem to have a to more grip. More cord than 550 para so I could use it for a tent if needed.

Good work. Always nice to have extra cord. Do you plan to use that knife for processing game? If so, that cord is going to get nasty real fast. For a spare knife or one to use around camp that should work well!

I've had my Kestrels wrapped with Dyneema 1mm kite line for a season now. Processed 2 deer with them, and the dyneema doesnt get as nasty as paracord. It's much easier to clean and doesnt absorb water. I also prefer the grip over either a Paracord wrap or the bare handle.

Poly based cord would likely yield different results.

Agree! It was quick to put this small cord on the handle so I can easily change it after each successful outing.
