Anyone hike this before? Supposed to be out there late July and curious how rocky it is for deciding if I am running a free standing tent or tarp. Tarps are great but if you cannot get stakes in it gets fun! That and how brutal will the mosquitoes be?

I hiked it in July last year. Easy trail. My 7 and 10 yr old killed it. We used a non-free standing SL-5, and were able to find places to set it up. A tarp might be tougher?

Recommend a bear canister. We did get raided on the last night and lost some food. Also be advised there is zero shade for long stretches, and you can get broiled in the sun. Bugs were pretty bad the week of July 4th. Mostly no-see-ums, black flies, and gnats when we were out there. Other than all that... great trail. Plenty of water. Fantastic views.
