I'm looking for a frame pack for my wife and was thinking of purchasing a 22" kifaru frame for her since she would be able to use my bags and she said mine is comfortable. I've read that all the bags will fit the 22" frame but some won't be "aesthetaclly pleasing" I was curious what they mean by that. Will it retain it's full functionality or will it not carry a load right.

I would be careful with that, bags that hang down past the frame can put weight/pressure on the top of your ass and wear you out quicker.

I think the “not aesthetically pleasing” line applies to short bags on long frames not the other way around. Never tried it but that’s my understanding from researching the 22” for my wife.

@Tanya Avery uses the 22" frame and 22 Mag bag and loves it. She has done several five-day backpack hunts and hauled a couple 70 pounds loads with it. Just get her the frame and bag:)

Lucky man. My lazy ass wife complains just when she has to take out the garbage, no way I could get her to haul meat.

BTW, I had a 22 inch frame and used it for a mountain rambler and a woodsman. I also had a 26 inch frame for an EMR 2 and later a reckoning. I mixed and matched. The reckoning on the 22 hung below the frame as some mentioned above. Not ideal IMO but it would have worked. The smaller packs worked fine on the larger frame but left space on the bottom at the waist belt. No big deal.

My favorite combo was the woodsman and the 22 inch frame. It was nimble and compact but could handle a load from meat hauling to a couple days of camp gear fine. You will miss the height of the lifters a bit but you give that up for a more compact frame. I would still be running it if I hadn’t fallen in love with an MR pop-up for day hunting.

Awesome photos, thanks for the input. Looks like I'll be in the market for a 22" frame and the 22 mag

I’m looking for a 22” as well.

Anyone finding it a pain to get to items without the top-loading option? I’ll have it on a plane, which would limit how accessible a panel-loader would be.

@Tanya Avery how the heck do you get 5 days in a 22mag?
I took my lady in for 3 nights and I had to put her sleeping bag on mine and I had the shelter.
Were pretty minimalist to. I couldn't see a way.
