Sold my mystery ranch metcalf after 5-6 years and can’t be happier ! I was hesitant to upgrade because of how well my metcalf fit but I’m happy I did. To start, the ability to customize everything from the fit to accessories, storage, buckles , straps and attachments is unmatched . The durability will continue to be tested but it’s worked great for 30 or so days guiding and hunting out of it. I have been super impressed how this pack has performed as a day pack and yet still has ample space to do 7+ day backpack hunt . I also have done lots of guiding in wilderness where we’re riding and hunting on horseback everyday and it worked well while riding a horse . It’s something that could be overlooked but for western elk/deer guides having stuff that works well on and off a horse is important . Anyways just wanted to put some good words out towards an exceptional company Kifaru , and it’s top of the line American made products !

Ruger M77 MKII from the looks of it. Have one in 22lr that I love.

OP - glad you’re liking the Gnargali. Have one on the way to upgrade from my Tahr. Hopefully mine will be propped up next to an elk next fall too!

Yeah not having a side zipper but having belt pouches and the two side sleeves is perfect ! Really don’t miss my zippers at all . Yeah good luck ! Hope to have some more of my own next year !

I love the Gnargali, but decided to sell the bag and wait for a rumored zippered version this summer. When day hunting or hunting from camp it was kinda a pain to always go through the tip lid to get a jacket or something that always ended up at the bottom of bag.

I was thinking that may be inconvenient but I found having all my go to’s in pouches on the pack made it easy. I figured all I ever had inside most of my day hunts was a puffy and rain gear. I put my snacks in pouch I can get to about 10 am.
