I bought the Stryker as an all-purpose pack and feel like I am part of the population it’s marketed to. I don’t think you can go wrong. In my opinion it’s very versatile and fits any style of hunting. Keep in mind I only go on one backpack hunt a year so I don’t have much experience in the backcountry but I use the pack year round for hauling stands, blinds, training weights, etc so it justified the cost to me. I set mine up with Med and large belt pouch like pictured above and haven’t found anything it can’t do. I got lots of good insight from the folks here on Rokslide and advice to buy was spot on.

Got my stryker/duplex lite frame and love it. I have run previous duplex frames, Stone Glacier, Kuiu, Exo, and this is my favorite by far. Used it so far for here in Utah for day hikes, ski tours, and a couple overnighters with a z-packs pack liner thats about 2800ci. pack.jpg

Is there a frame length that is optimal for the Stryker? I'm a stand hunter and day hunter that would only haul meat when out west or if I'm in a really shitty spot out here. Im 5' 11". I'm thinking 24" frame.

I'm 5'9" and the 24" frame is perfect. Hauls great.

I am 5'10" and a 24" frame is ahwat I am running mine on. I do wish for a 22" UL frame.

Is the Stryker load shelf functionally different than 22mag? In the winter my outer layers tend to take up quite a bit of room, I almost think the 22 mag may suit my needs a bit more. Anyone checked out both and would be able to comment?

I use lightweight rifles so it’s not an issue. But I do occasionally secure the chest strap to keep strap from moving and to balance things. I did install myself. All my packs have one now. Nothing is holding the butt, however it remains surprisingly snug. If you have added pockets low on the pack or on the rear of the belt they might interfere.

I will be using my stryker for 5+ day backcountry hunts. I’ve used both the Nomad II and Mystery Ranch Mule (and a variety of other packs) for the same hunt using a camp bag (OR 55l bag the last two years and an Eberlestock spike duffel years ago) so I know it works. In fact, I had emailed Kifaru after my 2018 hunts and described to them what I was looking for. Not suggesting my email influenced anything, but what they created in the Stryker is exactly what I was looking for. I believe this pack is perfect for me. Haul camp in, slim down for day hunting, haul out meat, and then haul out camp. Not too bulky or a lot of extra material while hunting, yet capable of hauling large volume loads with a separate bag, and able to keep meat separate from daily hunting bag contents.

How does the Stryker compare to the Nomad II? Put your weight on the shelf or between the wings. It just seems like a different way to do the same thing. I have the Nomad II just curious on your thoughts.

You have it right, different ways to do the same thing. Nomad II worked very well. I prefer the single bag of the Stryker and the way it acts as the Grab-it as well. But either work very well.

I am going to buy a pocket/pouch to attach to the molle on the front of the Stryker to add some capacity. Was looking at the Shape Charge or Sherman pocket, but got to looking at the spotting scope pocket as a light weight option. Any tried this?

Yes. You can access the load shelf on the Stryker by just undoing two buckles. On the 22 mag you have to unthread straps and take the top of the pack off the frame. If you have heavy outer layers you would need to put them in the load shelf on the Stryker. I've played with multiple packs to double for whitetail and out west and this is the one that is definitely will function best for whitetail.

I saw a few people were wondering it would attach to stone glacier frames. Well I got mine in the mail this morning and have it rigged up!

Everything connects together well but you have to move a few buckles around but it works great! I used the stuff Kifaru sent and the buckle kit stone glacier sent me when I got my frame. Even attached the sky lid.

We hunt all seasons, early to late.
I have 22mag 2nd gen, he the Stryker, used as day packs. I bought 22mag just before Stryker launched. Initially thought “darn...”
But after this past fall-winter seasons, I felt more reassurance on my choice. Sometimes my outer rain clothes and puffy go into a Guide Xpac Lid, attached to back of 22mag

he now wishes he bought the 22mag 2nd gen.

and both love the Reckoning for multi day backcountry

Set blinds today for turkey that will stay up for deer. Stryker worked perfectly.

Really contemplating one of these Strykers to be an alternate to my Woodsman. We usually dayhunt elk in CO, so the woodsman is overkill, though it does cinch down nicely. I'd like a more streamlined setup for working through that blasted low tangled Oak Brush. To buy or not to buy, that is the question, while quarantined.

I absolutely love mine. Bought it for day hunts and early season stuff!

I’ve been through some pretty thick nasty stuff with mine already and no hang ups here.
