Knee replacement (TKR) scheduled for first week of July

Just found out today they want to do both of mine. I wont hunt this year but from reading above, backpacking is still possible?

Depends on your Doc and schedule. 8 weeks out your bones are healed. 10 weeks out I'm cleared to do anything but run (or other impact activities). So if your season is still open in 8-10 weeks after surgery, you might even be able to hunt. Ours runs through December 31.

I wouldn't be surprised if some docs say never backpack. But others are totally fine with it. People gain weight, which is essentially equivalent. Gabrielle Reese is playing volleyball on hers. May shorten the life a bit, but should still last decades.

Thanks for that. I'm still in a state of shock. They want to send me to UCLA or USC or some other major hospital because I have a history of blood clots and they want to have every kinda specialist there and ready in case something goes wrong.
