Anyone get a good Kodiak goat draw? I’ll be hunting Terror Lake in early October this year.
474 or 473? I drew 474 and will also be there in Oct. but not Terror. This will be my 4th hunt in 474 over the last 6 years and every time I've hunted it, it's been in a different location. Goat hunting on Kodiak is one of my favorite hunts. Actually, it probably is my favorite hunt.

473. Still looking at how I want to get in there. I could take the obvious route of fly into terror lake, there’s also a couple smaller lakes, or I could catch a boat to the hydroelectric road and hike in and out hunting deer along the way back.

Are the bears up high that time of year? I’m likely going solo, so that’s a small concern.

I hunted 473 in 2017, just northeast of Terror, and yeah there were a lot of bears in the area. We probably saw at least 10 different bears in that many days, and this was in Oct. at around 2500'-3500' elevation. Lupine roots seemed to be their food of choice.

yeah, 474. Gonna go in August though. I liked the early part of the season last year and I don't see a great need to change up the timing this year.

DG474 for me and my hunting buddy. First time to Kodiak and first goat hunt. Planning on going the last week of Sept or first week of Oct and possibly doing some deer hunting at the same time.

I’d imagine with the amount of transporters there (aircraft and boat), as long as you aren’t trying to go out during brown bear dates, it probably never totally books up. Locations might fill up or be crowded, but not transporters.

Personally I'd book it ASAP. I like Rolan at Seahawk. They just charge a deposit to book the dates...and you can change location anytime up until you fly out. Gets your name on the list and establishes priority of sorts...which can come in handy on those days where they couldn't fly out the previous day and are working to clear the backlog of folks coming in/out. I'm doing 474 as well but going earlier...I'm glad we won't be on top of each other!
