krg bravo for tikka

I'm am pretty close to pulling the trigger on a KRG Bravo for my tikka t3 as I have read this as a recommended stock to increase shooting ergonomics. Looking from feedback from those who have done the swap.

Did you get an increase in shooting comfort? Were you able to spot your shots better? Do you feel the added weight is worth the improvement for hunting purposes?

I like mine a lot for all of the reasons you listed. I wish it was lighter honestly. If you end up no liking it for whatever reason, they’re easy to sell as they don’t last long in the classifieds.

I don’t, but is has a Hawkhill 3b barrel plus brake. Contour is similar to the CTR so it’s definitely heavy.

The factory contour barrels feel ‘better’ and more balanced to me in the KRG.

A T3 lite in a KRG is right at 7.5lbs empty. With a 19oz scope and 4oz rings it’s between 8.9 and 9.1 pounds depending on barrel length.

Thanks Form. It will be going on a tikka 6.5 lite with an LRHS which of course you had no influence on. In your experience is the weight penalty worth the performance improvement? I have limited funds for upgrades every year so this stock would fit within this year. If not I can defer a few years if there are much better options.

7 critters with this thing in just over a month. All western hunts. Should get that to 10 before the month is out.

it’s basically been carried in hand exclusively except for packouts. Only thing that’ll change is stainless 7 twist ackley and atlas cal.

I carry my rifle in hand most of the time and don’t use slings. As long as the rifle weight allows that for me than I’m good. Not chasing ultralight in my rifle. All of my setups usually weight 8 - 8.5 lbs.

Then yes, it’s a good improvement. Sight tracking through recoil is the biggest improvement. If weight matters, the Alterra Arms stock is well designed too.

I will give my opinion only with the caveat that I am not a backpack hunter. Rather, I like to walk my family property (about 260 acres) and hunt a couple of other small properties from time to time. At the most, I walk 2-3 miles at a time in eastern ridge and valley land so weight isn't a huge issue for me, but at 140 lbs on a 5'11" frame, a 14 lbs rifle gets old and is pretty unwieldy. I drank the Formidilosus Kool-aid, got a Tikka t3x in 223 and 6.5 Creedmoor and both now wear a Bravo. Still tastes delicious. These are about the only rifles I pick up anymore.

For my use, the Bravo is more than worth it, but I'm not covering a lot of miles at a time. I have done plenty of backpacking, but not backpacking hunting, so I understand getting obsessive about weight. That being said, I find using the Tikka's in a Bravo to be a huge improvement in comfort (if you're spending anytime on the gun) and recoil control.

I don’t notice a huge difference between a kimber Montana and Leopold 6x and krg tikka with bipod and loaded mag when carrying in hand all day. Plenty of days have been rifle in hand playing bumper buck.

12-14 pounds would be obnoxious but fitment in hand and balance seem more important then just weight.

I put one on a T1x and I love the vertical grip. Made it easier to shoot even over the factory stock with the grip and forearm swapped out. However, does add weight, but for my purposes that was a good thing

I should have a very similar build in the next week or two.

What’s your weight? I want to keep mine under 12 but over 10lbs.

KRG does not offer an option for a 300 WSM magazine. Is there another option, or am I limited to 308 based rounds?

T3x Lite .308 in a KRG Bravo. Mountain Tactical one piece 20MOA scope base, Mountain Tactical trigger spring, set a little to lite for my taste 1.5lbs just wanted to try one out.

Only shot 168g ELD-M. The 500y group had a little bit of mirage R to L. Should of gone .1-.2R… rookie mistake.

I’ll weigh it tomorrow: 11.02lbs
