Does anybody have experience with a KUIU 6000 (or larger) as a day pack?

Thinking of dropping my day pack and using this full time so I don't have a need for two packs in the backcountry. Seems fine at the house, but I can't begin to think of how many things seemed fine at the house and later turned out to not be so fine in reality.

I have a 7800 ultra and think it would be far too big for day pack. Speculate the 6000 would also be too big but you could compress it down a bit.

I’d target the 3600 or wait for their new line to drop (should be next 30 days or so). Kinda cool part about kuiu packs is you can have more than one bag at only a $100 extra cost or so....just my 2 cents.

I think it would be fine. I use my 5500 for everything and it literally compresses to less than 2” off the frame. I also remove the lid in daypack mode to make it even smaller. Works great for me.

I have a 1850 and the new 6000 pro.. i think it works fine as a day pack. A little cumbersome. But there's no way I could actually pull of the 1850 as a true day pack while hunting. Between my spotter, tripod, gun/bow, kill kit, food, water, rain gear/optional layers my 1850 is pretty much full.. then I would have to pack meat too! Yes you can pull the bag away from the frame for a meat shelf. I just don't like having my bag stuffed to the brim. So I use it more for scouting trips. And the 600 for everything else.
I know with the 6000 I have enough room to make my first trip out with a good load of meat.

Just got my dad a 6000 and hope that it will work in day mode. Never know until you get it on the mountain

I just bought the 6000 and planning on using it for everything. Put a tri pod ,big glass and a water blader then snug it down. Rides nice also.

My 6000 is great as a day pack. With all of the straps, it cinches down small. It uses the same frame and harness regardless of the bag. I don't think I'd notice whether I had a 6000 cinched down vs a 3600 cinched down; in fact I had a 3600 bag and then exchanged it for the 6000, and I've since used the 6000 as a day pack and hauling full gear with meat. It's awesome to hike a mile out with an empty 6000 as a day pack and come back with it full of meat.

I have been using a 5500 pack and it compresses down nice a tight. The roll up lid is where most of the extra CI is located from a 3500 size.

Been getting more time with my new Kuiu pack pro 7800. Compresses great when wanting a day pack, imo.

Any details or a link on this new line?

Just what was pushed out in the mail a few months back (photo attached).

Someone on the FB forum asked CS when the news would officially drop and that date has come and gone (last week). Guessing pretty close to anytime now.

Sounds like a hybrid of pro and ultra and a weight in between. May be pretty sweet.

I use the 5000 and pack the 3600 into it for back country hunts. Day hunts I stick with the 3600. But they all compress so well I wouldnt see any real issue using either. May be easier to snag the bigger bag.
