Made a trip to some public I hadn’t hunted and was able to get on some deer sign. Place has some good bucks, not a very high population though. Found some Red Oaks still dropping a few acorns and the deer were hitting them. I took both these deer from different spots on acorns.
I must confess I missed the biggest buck I’ve had an opportunity at in Louisiana 😬
He came in fast and was going behind my tree, I tried to step out on the end of my stand to get enough clearance for the bottom limb on my 62” longbow and didn’t have enough slack in my safety line, top limb of my bow was in branches, I just panicked and rushed the shot 🤦🏻
Hope everyone had a good season!

I hunt up there a good bit. Place is huge!

Right, and I had no clue! I hunted the Jackson-Bienville WMA when I was in college and thought it was enormous at 30k acres or so, but Tensas is something like 90k.

If I can get my recurve dialed in time, I want to head back for a little turkey action this year.

Not that many turkeys there anymore. I think the hogs put a hurt on the nests. Good luck!
