I have some doe/fawn tags in eastern WY. I have permission to hunt a farm out near Torrington that sits up against the N Platte river.

If I can go, it'll be mid December. I talked to the landowner the other day and he said they haven't seen too many deer lately.

What I'm trying to decide is if it is worth the time and expense to go out and try to fill some tags. I have plenty of meat, but would love to have some whitetail to try. It is a CWD zone so there is potential that I could be successful and ultimately discard the meat if they test positive. I have 4 tags.

So, where are whitetails likely to hang out in early to mid winter? Will they likely stay in the river bottoms or more likely are they migrating elsewhere?

I have a message in with the warden so I'll get his take as well.
