Lawson Cordage for Cimarron Light?

Wanting to get some of their glowire for the guy outs on a cimarron light...which diameter is best? Is the 2mm adequate, or is it better to bump up to the 2.5?

And is a 50’ chunk plenty?

Anyone swap out the cordage for the line-locs at the base of the tent with glowire too, or is that unnecessary?

I just bought off Amazon, use continuous line on each side, & taught-line hitch for my Kifaru Sawtooth.

I'm using 2mm Lawson glow wire all around my Tut without issue. Also using it for my stake loop extensions to let me pitch it 4-8" off the ground.

Same setup as mrbill on my redcliff and silvertip. Love that glowire when I’m looking for camp in the dark.

Not to totally derail, but how does that 2mm Lawson cord lock down on knots? I’ve been using the reflective 3/32 Atwood rope and it doesn’t hold reliably. Seems too stiff.

2mm or 2.5 will work fine. I have the 2mm on my sawtooth and it’s been solid. Can’t go wrong with any of lawsons cordage. Great company to buy from.

Dig into whatever Andrew Skurka offers for insight regarding cordage and tension on anchors. He has about as much first hand experience as anyone and I’d be hard pressed to look beyond his recommendations.

Do you use the line-loc tensioners? Does the 2mm work fine in those? Enough bite to hold them in place?

FYI … if you are using the line locs they will hold tension better at 2.5 mm to 2.75mm . I had Lawson make us a special 3mm but we didn’t offer it .

What we provide is 2.75 sterling rope . 2.5 can work but will loose tension at times

Yes, I use line loc tensioners on the guy outs and stake loops. Here are the two types I use. Works perfectly with my 2mm line and I purchased them from zpacks.com

I love the 2mm Lawson Glowire on my Cimarron, bright orange in daylight, super visible at night. Holds knots well. I use taut-line hitch knots for tension instead of linelocs
