Ok guys, what are some of your favorite 300 wsm loads and what game/distance do you use them for?

67.5 grains of WW760 behind a Hornady 165 gr SST with a large rifle primer.

The older reloading manuals say that you can go to 69 grains of WW760 with a magnum primer behind a 165 grain pill and even though I wasn't getting huge pressure issues showing in the case or bolt lift, I was getting 3458 FPS and the first words out of people at several manufacturers mouths were after hearing of my speeds, back it off now! So I dropped back to 67.5 grains with the large rifle primer and while speeds have dropped they are still above the "book" and I am still getting great accuracy and they absolutely devastating on whitetails and an elk. Whitetails have been from 53 yards to 300 and the elk was at 280. All have been one shot kills and all have died in sight.

H4831sc has pretty much been my go-to powder when I’m loading for the 300 WSM. Done load development for quite a few of them and tried about everything and for some reason it just seems to work in about all of them with 180-215 grain bullets.

Man for how well my 270wsm has done with RL26 I would give it a try in the 300wsm. I’ll be testing 170gr and 175gr in my 270wsm with RL26 over then next few months. There is also a 180gr .277 bullet I may try but it doesn’t have a great bc but I’m sold on RL26.

Been having good luck with RL-17 and 180 BT, Accubonds. Shot to 900yds consistently. No kills with this rifle yet though. My load is actually a couple grains over book so wont post number. Velocity is 3100fps. Worked a load for 190gr LRAB it was 3050fps under 1/2moa also.
Use RL-22 in another 300wsm with 180gr Partition 3/4moa load 3025fps

I had better results with rl26 and rl16 than 4831sc. I settled on rl16 pushing the 190 ablr at 2920fps.

I have a Browning XBokt that is my primary big game rifle. For my lead free Ca hunting, I use 150gr Barnes TTSX over 67.0 grains of H4350 with CCI Large Rifle Magnum Primers. Average FPS is 3226 and three round grouping was about 3/4 of an inch.

For out of state, Nosler Ballistic Tip Hunting in 165gr over 63.5 grains of H414 with Winchester Large Rifle Primers. Average FPS is unknown as I loaded these prior to gettting a chronograph. Grouping was small enough that a dime covers three rounds.

I have had good results with RL 17 using 165 and 180 gn Barnes ttsx and Hornady 178 eldx. My current load using RL 17 and the 178 eldx has been used to take multiple elk, deer, and antelope. The load is below Hornady's recommended max and pushes nearly 3,100 fps. Rifle is a Sako 75 finnlight.

h4350 has been the most accurate in mine for all bullet weights. currently shooting 220gr eld-x. mid range load produces about 2615fps out of a 22in barrel browning a-bolt loaded to mag length (2.860?)

Following as I have a few 300 WSM loads on list for work up.

I have a new Fierce Edge in 300 WSM and planning on working up a load with Norma Brass, H4350 and 168 Barnes TTSX and the Barnes 175 Gr LRX.

Chopped barrel to 22” on my Tikka 300 WSM to accommodate suppressor and ease of bushwhacking. Going to work up a load around 150 Accubond with Nosler Brass and H4350 or Superformance.

Anyhow, need it to warm up a bit and days to get longer. Load development in January in interior Alaska is a pain in the ass.

Have a custom MRC1999 with 25" barrel of unknown manufacture. Could not get that sucker to shoot 165-180gr bullets. For kicks I loaded some 110 Vmax over Winchester 760 and it loves it.

Later tried Reloder 26 and a 215 Berger and it seems to like that too but not as much as the 110 Vmax.

I just got the rifle back from the gunsmith and will start loading for it soon. Hopefully I can get it ready for a cow elk hunt Ryan and I have in a few weeks.

My plan to start will be Berger 215's and Bertram Brass. I'm still deciding which powder to start with but I'll post up my info as I go.

If you end up wanting some more brand new already chamfered never fired Bertram brass let me know. I got a bunch atleast 150 I’ll sell at $1 a round or if anyone else wants some as well.

I will say RL-26 has gotten me 3180 fps with 178 eldx and just over 2900 fps with 212 eldx from a 24” barrel 300 wsm.

I’m using 66.8gr H4831SC with a 200gr ELD-X in Nosler brass. Shooting a Tikka T3 hunter. I don’t have published data for this combination, but was pointed toward this by other Roksliders. Hodgdon told me to use their 208 Amax data for the 200 ELD-X. That data listed 66.5(C)he as the maximum load. Use this data at your own risk. Always start low and work your way up. Follow safe loading procedures.

64.5gn of h4350 over a Federal GM 215 and Norma brass will launch a 180gn TTSX right at 3000 fps. My Kimber Montana will shoot this load better than I can.

Thanks for all the info guys! I'm waiting for my brass to arrive so I can start working on a load.

I think I'll grab a couple boxes of factory ammo for a cow elk hunt I have in a couple weeks. Any that you guys really like for elk from say 0-600 yards?
