We have a little log cabin down on the Kenai Peninsula and since it always seems to be in a constant state of improvement, I find myself looking for new, cool ideas that I can incorporate into it. So, if you have a recreational property and would like to share some of the things you've done to it, please do.

Man, I don't even know where to start, but here's a few. I'm going to have to start it off with a double shot.....gun, that is.

No, I can't take credit for any of the log refurbishing work, metal roof, or any of the structural work for that matter, but most of the work inside is mine. A ton of elbow grease went into refurbishing the logs, pulling out all the old insulation from inbetween them, rechinking them, etc., and although I can't take credit for any of it, I truly can appreciate it. The cabin was originally built in 1980, using logs that were taken off the property and, although not that old, it has a pretty interesting history.

Not a cabin in appearance, but it's our home away from home and let's me get more time outdoors in when the wife and kids can be comfortable

Here's my family's cabin in UT. I built it in exchange for my dad paying for my college. I was a carpenter before I went back to school. We have a pretty big family so we needed a bigger place. I think it's a little over 4700 sq ft, with about 2200 sq ft detached garage. Garages are pretty cheap to make all things considered, so make one way bigger than you think you'll need. All right, I'm beginning to think that there is some kind of conspiracy going on here. Between you and handwerk (the two people that have posted cabin pictures), none of the images are showing up.

They show up as links on my end. I clicked the "attach image" icon and select the files and they never show up as images. Is there some trick to the "attach image" button I'm missing?

I have some pretty cool pics of a cabin I built in 2006 on the peninsula of Alaska, just below Ugashik lake. Pretty different building a cabin 120 miles from the nearest road. We shipped everything out of Utah, to Seattle and then put it on a boat to King Salmon Alaska and then barged it 27 miles up the river when the tide was high. Neat experience.
