Leupold BX-5 Santiam HD Binoculars

Designed for epic adventures in harsh environments, the BX-5 Santiam HD binocular dominates other optics in its class. It's the perfect glass for anyone who demands professional-grade performance. The generous eye box is designed for long glassing sessions with no eye-strain, while the open-bridge design is comfortable and easy to carry.

Built around Leupold's Professional-Grade Optical System, it offers unmatched light transmission that’s designed to outperform in the most challenging lighting conditions. The industry leading glare reduction provides a clear image in harsh, direct light, while the resolution and clarity will meet the demands of any professional guide or shooter in the field.

It comes with Pro Gear® accessories, including a GO Afield shoulder strap, binocular case, lens covers, and lens cloth. And like all Leupold® binoculars, it's fogproof and waterproof.

Available in:

8x42 - Tight brushy areas present their own host of issues. Namely, being able to see. Sometimes field of view trumps magnification. If that's the case, our BX®-5 Santiam® HD 8x42mm binocular may be what you're looking for.

10x42 - A 10x binocular is the perfect power for a lot of hunters. It provides enough field of view for tight areas, while delivering enough magnification for wide-open spaces.

10x50 - If a 10x binocular is the perfect power for you, but you prefer a little more light, then the BX®-5 Santiam® HD 10x50mm bino will get the job done. With a slightly larger objective than its 42mm counterpart, the 10x50mm provides enough field of view for tight areas, while delivering great magnification for wide-open spaces and a bright image.

12x50 - When you need more magnification, but still want a semi-compact set of glass, the BX®-5 Santiam® HD 12x50mm may be perfect for you. The 12x magnification is great for open spaces, while its rugged, lightweight design won't weigh you down.

15x56 - If you constantly debate whether you should take your binocular or spotting scope on your upcoming hunt or range session, then you might want to consider a bino you can spot with. The BX®-5 Santiam® HD 15x56mm binocular boasts a clear and powerful 15x magnification to make identifying your target a lot easier.

Leupold BX-5 Santiam HD 15x56 Binocular Named ‘Gray’s Best’

Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Leupold BX-5 Santiam HD 15x56 Binocular has been named “Gray’s Best” for Shooting products by Gray’s Sporting Journal. The award was announced in the Gray’s 2022 Expeditions & Guides Annual.

The Gray's Best awards are selected by the editors of Gray's Sporting Journal, who choose gear that not only makes good first impressions but satisfies during repeated use. Choices are made of the Editorial team's own volition, absent encouragement, or incentive from the manufacturers.

“Those who have spent hours peering through a spotting scope know that it’s vastly easier on the eyes to look through a binocular, and you see more. As well, depth perception is a great aid to judging exactly what you’re looking at,” said the Gray’s editors in their review, “… Combine this with significantly reduced size and weight, and the sharply reduced price of the Santiam binocular, and you have a winning combination.”

The BX-5 Santiam HD 15x56 binocular boasts a clear and powerful 15x magnification to make identifying your target easier than ever. Built for epic adventures in harsh environments, it dominates other optics in its class and features Leupold’s Professional Grade Optical System, which offers unmatched light transmission that’s designed to outperform in the most challenging conditions, industry-leading glare reduction for a clear image in direct, harsh light, and the resolution and clarity that professional guides and shooters demand.

“The Leupold Core is comprised of the most relentless hunters and shooters in the world,” said Bruce Pettet, President and Chief Executive Officer for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “They demand world-class performance, and that’s what the BX-5 Santiam HD line delivers. We’re proud to have been recognized by Gray’s Sporting Journal, one of the world’s most respected hunting publications.”

How would you stack these up against others in the $1000 category?

They are great binos, I’ve had a few pair of them. I would never pay what they cost new though or close to it. Not sure what kind of deal cameraland is making but it’s at least worth it to ask. They’ve gone up significantly in the last few years, you used to be able to get them for $700-$900 depending on the model but that’s when retail was $300+ less than it is now.

Unless you’re getting a great deal I’ll then I’d spend a little more and get some used SLC’s, trinovids, ultra vids or meostar B1+. There’s always great deal on the classifieds on here.

I’m a huge fan of Leupold, especially rifle scopes, but no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to like the BX-5s. The glass is ok for the price but they’re awkward to look through. i have to leave the eye cups all the way in to get the full field of view. I was hoping to replace my Vortex Razors (which have to be sent in for warranty often) with them but was really disappointed.
